Synopsis
In the music video for ‘Bae’ it starts off with a bird’s eye / high angle establishing shot of London’s skyline which cuts to a shot of Tion walking down the street towards a Bentley & also cuts to Afro B singing adlibs and the chorus. There is some slow motion throughout the song. There are cross cuts throughout to Tion rapping the first verse, leaning on the Bentley. We then follow them being chauffeured in the car to an expensive restaurant. The next scene is a girl in a bath then going to join Tion in the bedroom. The video ends with Afro B in the car with his girl and Tion rapping alone. The video then fades to black.
The video is performance and narrative based as it tells a story and it also has the artists lip singing. The theme behind this music video is love. The artists are represented as desirable in this music video as they do things such as eat in expensive places and drive round in expensive cars.
Tions authorage is his pendant on his chain and his haircut as he never changes it and he is one of few that can pull it off.
Some of the shots are handheld and some appear to be from a drone or a crane as well as on a tripod / dolly. Editing techniques such as slow motion allows the audience to take in the video and comprehend the lyrics. Throughout this 3-minute song lip syncing is used almost constantly.
From this video I could use the crosscutting technique in my own music video.
