The Infinite Mix Exhibition Feedback

Today we went to The Infinite Mix exhibition at the SouthBank Centre.
It was an exhibition, The Infinite Mix brings together major audio-visual artworks from ten leading international artists, Martin Creed, Jeremy Deller with Cecilia Bengolea, Stan Douglas, Cyprien Gaillard, Dominique Gonzalez- Foerster, Cameron Jamie, Kahlil Joseph, Elizabeth Price, Ugo Rondinone and Rachel Rose.

Most of the works mix the conventions of documentary filmmaking with unexpected and inventive approaches to layering images and sounds. Structured musically, rather than as linear narratives, they present new possibilities for how the medium of video can engage us in exploring the poetics as well as the politics of music, performance and history.

My favourites were Bom Bom's dream and m.a.a.d and THANX 4 NOTHING.

Recording of Preliminary task

On the 14th and 15th of this week we recorded our preliminary music video to Lady Leshurrs Queen Speech 2. Me and Edward were filming whilst Jadar and Moshope were the stars in the music video. We used premier pro to edit it. The struggles we faced was using the natural lighting and editing was good because it meant that we learnt how to use it successfully when it comes to our final piece.

Learning how to set up the camera and preliminary task filming

We went outside to film and film cut away clips for our music videos.

Today in class we had a photography technician, who is very experienced in cameras came in to speak to our class and teach us how to use the cameras. We learnt the basics of what to do when starting to record a music video.

Firstly, set the correct video settings, press menu on the first slide go to image quality and set it to a symbol which looks like;
Secondly, flick across a couple of slides to movie rec size and set to;

Thirdly on the side of the lens is a little switch, flick it to MF from AF. focusing the lense whilst in AF can damage the lens.

Penultimately setting the camera to manual by rolling the wheel on the top of the camera which manual is indicated by the letter M.

After that we use the wheel ( not the wheel above) by the shutter release to adjust shutter speeds. 50 is perfect for film.

Continuing from that we change the ISO settings by holding the button labeled ISO which ranges from 100 to 1800 which sets the correct lighting for the camera depending on the lighting from the natural surroundings.

Lastly is aperture. Holding the button labeled AV and use the scroll wheel in order to adjust the aperture.

Preliminary task - Lesson 1

In today's lesson we got into our groups which we are in for the Music video task, to start the preliminary task. We will produce a minute long music video to Queen's Speech 2 by Lady Leshurr as it is in the same genre as what we will be doing in our real music video. We will have Moshope as the main artists and starts to record in tomorrow's lesson. I printed out the lyrics in order to plan the shots for each line in the song.
