Today in class we had a photography technician, who is very experienced in cameras came in to speak to our class and teach us how to use the cameras. We learnt the basics of what to do when starting to record a music video.
Firstly, set the correct video settings, press menu on the first slide go to image quality and set it to a symbol which looks like;
Secondly, flick across a couple of slides to movie rec size and set to;
Thirdly on the side of the lens is a little switch, flick it to MF from AF. focusing the lense whilst in AF can damage the lens.
Penultimately setting the camera to manual by rolling the wheel on the top of the camera which manual is indicated by the letter M.
After that we use the wheel ( not the wheel above) by the shutter release to adjust shutter speeds. 50 is perfect for film.
Continuing from that we change the ISO settings by holding the button labeled ISO which ranges from 100 to 1800 which sets the correct lighting for the camera depending on the lighting from the natural surroundings.
Lastly is aperture. Holding the button labeled AV and use the scroll wheel in order to adjust the aperture.
